So this book is all about love. It's about how love is forbidden in society, how people try to prevent it, how it develops between characters and how it's being fought for. I think maybe Lauren Oliver recognized how love is a huge part of our society, and decided to base her books on that. In our society today, love is everywhere. It's in songs, movies, magazines, books, billboards, stores, pretty much everywhere. We say the word millions of times a day. We say we love people, we say we love animals and we even say we love objects. Lauren Oliver may have wanted to give us a taste of what it would be like without it.
In the book, the word love isn't even allowed to be said. They call it delirium. Everyone is afraid of it. Lena, the main character has been infected with it and now fights for the freedom to love.
At the end of the first book, Lena has escaped the boundary of her city to live in the Wilds, but she has left behind, Alex, her only reason for escaping at all. In the next book, Lena starts over and falls in love with someone else and continues her fight for love. Oliver I think wanted to show how influential love is and how it affects what we do, how we feel, and how our future plays out. It completely changed Lena's life. Oliver wrote, "A world without love is also a world without stakes." This illustrates how love is something that people take risks for, something for someone to lose.

Next I will read...
I have just recently finished reading Pandemonium and next plan to read the next book in this series titled, Requiem. In this series there are seven books, book 1, Delirum, book 0.5, Annabel, book 1.5, Hana, book 2, Pandemonium, book 2.5, Raven, book 3, Requiem and book 3.5, Alex. I decided the read Requiem because it follows the character Lena, who is involved in book Delirium and Pandemonium. Also, Pandemonium ended on a cliffhanger so I couldn't help but pick Requiem up immediately after finishing Pandemonium.
I also have really enjoyed reading from this author (Lauren Oliver) because her writing styles really appeals to me. I find the setting of the story to be very interesting as well because it's very unique. I've never really thought about love as a disease and I think the author has really thought through that part of the story and it really sets a basis for a great plot. I plan to read the other books about the supporting characters and expect to find it just as interesting as the others.

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
The book I chose is titled Pandemonium, sequel to Delirium by Lauren Oliver. I would rate it a 7 out of 10. I enjoyed this book because the characters are very complex and show many different emotions. It also uses very descriptive language which aids the reader in comprehending and creating a mental picture to further understand the novel. I would suggest this book to anyone who enjoyed futuristic novels such as the Hunger Games and enjoy books involving interesting and abstract ideas. The writing style is in first person and uses many similes, metaphors and other comparisons.
The novel is set years into the future where love (deliria) is considered a disease and when citizens turn eighteen, they must undergo a surgery where the part of the brain capable of loving is removed. Lena, the main character has fallen in love and has attempted to escape with her boyfriend Alex into the wilderness where the "invalids" (people who are in support of love) live. In the effort, Alex is left behind and Lena believes him to be dead. Pandemonium picks up when Lena wakes up in a homestead in the wilderness, where she meets many new characters who become her friends. In the later chapters, the author switches to roughly six months later where Lena is kidnapped by the DFA (Deliria Free America) and attempts to escape with her inmate, Julian. The novel continues to switch from "then" and "now" until the times meet up.
